The 2020 Australian and New Zealand Boutique Wine Awards were recently announced, and two specific areas took the spotlight. Tasmania had three wineries that really made a splash: Bream Creek Reserve, Gala Estate, and Freycinet Vineyard. They took home trophies such as “wine of show” and “best sparkling wine.” Also, Western Australia made a name for themselves in the wine world, taking home five best-in-class titles out of a total of 17. They even took home over 25% of the total gold medals available.
- Western Australia won 12 medals overall, while Tasmania had several wines winning top prizes.
- Wine of show was the 2017 Bream Creek Reserve Pinot Noir, which also won best red of show and best pinot noir.
- Four of the seven gold medals for shiraz were from Western Australia.
“Western Australia and Tasmania did well at the 2020 Australian and New Zealand Boutique Wine Awards.”
