Author: The Global Wine Score
As main En primeurs ratings from wine critics for Bordeaux 2016 are released, the Global Wine Score gives an indication on the quality of the vintage 2016. It seems interesting to appreciate this vintage through a comparison with previous vintages from 2000’s.
Global Wine Score results from the aggregation of wine ratings. The aim is to obtain through the Global Wine Score process, a score as objective as possible.
We decided to compare only wines rated on all vintages from 2000 to 2016 by at least 3 wine critics (Robert Parker, Jancis Robinson, James Suckling, et al.). The complete list of the wine critics is available on the home page of the Global Wine Score (http://www.globalwinescore.com/ ).
We choose 132 wines from the different following Bordeaux classifications:
- Grand Cru Classés de Saint Emilion, A and B included.
- Grands Crus Classés en 1855
- Grands Pomerol
- Some Seconds Vins
The wine critics en primeur scores normalized on a 100 point scale represent the input data of the Global Wine Score.
Usually, wine sector professionals consider 2005, 2009 and 2010 as the best vintages. How does Global Wine Score compare vintage 2016 to the other ones?
